    Hi,
Wonderful post. I wanted to ask one thing, that once the phone is rooted, if a rom has been installed with some custom recovery e.g. CWM recovery, so now when unrooting the phone, should the custom recovery also be removed and the official recovery to be installed again??

    Thanks,
    Omer

  2. Ankit says

I think we should not your software with Pit file. PIT file for for partition. I onced flashed my phone with pit file and 16 gb internal memory become 4 gb. and if I would have flashed my phone at that momomt with any other rom , then my phone might have been hard bricked.

Pit file is not recommend at all.

    • sohil memon says

Bro If you want to delete old partition and data created by Custom ROM and root apps then you must select “.pit” file.

      • Sumz says

No it does not. Hence I followed the following

Installed stock ROM rooted using Odin
        Installed Triangle Away app
Ran Triangle Away and set counter as NO (the default)
        Un installed Triangle Away
Cleared root from the stock for good

What I am left with is Stock ROM Unrooted and Counter set to Zero or No (as default)

  3. ahmed says

    hi man :)
when i down load the firmware file i found only the .tar.md5 file along with the ss_DL.dll file
i couldnt find the modem / csc / pit files :(
please help i need to get this done … and is there any other way to clear my counter to 0 rather than triangle away app ?

    • sohil memon says

IF you have carefully read the post then I have written that “If you don’t find modem or CSC file then it’s OK” Follow the procedure without conflict. And there is no other way that I know, but in case if I found then I will really inform you for sure :D

      • shahzad says

I was also missing modem and CSC files and after ready this reply I CAREFULLY read your post again but couldn’t find “if you don’t find modem…..” :)

In some reply to someone, you have also mentioned that using PIT is necessary if rooting has done something with partitions. But in this reply you are saying “it’s OK”. Is this really OK?

        • sohil memon says

I have said “If you find the ‘.pit’ file then you have to check the Re-partition box otherwise everything is fine”. So, upgrade the firmware what you have found in the downloaded file :D (Every region has it’s own no. of files)

  4. Vardhan says

I just want to know that if i have a custom rom installed then should i first remove the rom and do this or this will remove the traces of custom rom as well as restore the firmware?

    Hi,
I followed ur process to unroot my Note 2 N7100XXDMC3 . I have also tried different roms from different places and seen and followed the steps on youtube (which are exactly the same as what u have mentioned).
I successfully get the stock rom installed and also the stock recovery comes up.
No matter how many times i try it (having it successfully installed) my phone does not register any Sim inserted and i cannot use my network.
The phone recognizes the sim but does not register it n i get a msg “Not Registered on Network” everytime i try to make a call.
I m new to these things but a fast learner.
    Kindly help me with this.
I really wanna get the phone unrooted.
N yes the Counter on my phone does not change to 0 nor NO.
If u want i can record a video and maybe compress it n send it to u.
I believe there is nothing wrong im doing but nothings helping me here.
have been trying this for over a week now..Kindly help.
    Thanks in advance.

          • Akhil Gupta says

            Got it to work.
I flashed it with N7100XXDMG1 Version and now i am able to use my network too.
            Only issue remaining.
when i boot into Odin Mode i get.
            Product Name : GT-N7100
Custom Binary Download : Yes (4 counts)
            Current Binary : Samsung Official
            System Status : Official

How do i get the Custom Binary Download to change to 0 or No again. any other way apart from using Triangle Away??? (thats a paid app)

          • sohil memon says

Great! Now for the binary counter “Triangle Away” is the only app for Samsung. You will get triangle away app from any website just search in Google.

    • Akhil Gupta says

forgot to mention that i also go ahead n try to select the network from network settings but it either gives an error “Unable to connect, plz try later” or “The sim does not allow you to register on this network”

Really looking forward for a sollution bro.

      thanks

  12. J Kilgren says

Thanks for all the info! I do have a problem though I got what I believed to be the correct firmware ( I have the galaxy n2 I605 verizon). When I get odin up the ID:COM goes yellow and I only have the MD5 file and PIT file. I enter those two and have auto reboot, F. reset time, and Re-Partition checked as I saw you said to do. It tells me the MD5 hash value is invalid and ends. Did I just get the wrong firmware file?

  13. J Kilgren says

Also just wanted to let you know that the problem I am having is that I rooted my phone, then attempted to unroot but the recovery is still not stock and I cant take any updates. When I put my phone into download mode it does say odin mode and custom binary: no and current binary is Samsung official. Is this what I need to do? As there is only one stock firmware for my phone and its the one that is telling me the MD5 is invalid. Sorry to keep hitting you with questions!

  14. J Kilgren says

alright I got it to pass in odin but now im stuck in a bootloop and it seems i cant access the recovery (volume up+power+home) only download mode (volume down+power+homescreen) what now? lol

    • sohil memon says

Bro first you tell me which firmware version you have download? And for the bootloop. Take out or battery for 30 sec. and re-insert it back!

      Do this:

      1. Switch off the phone completely
      2. Press and hold “Volume Up + Power Button” for few seconds.
      3. Now you will be into Stock Recovery mode seeing some “4 – 5 options”. You can use volume buttons to navigate and power button to select.
      4. Now, navigate to “factory data reset” and click ok.
      5. Now, select Wipe Cache Partition and click “OK”
      6. Reboot you device.
      And you are done

Can you guide me brother because I am totally irritated due “not registered on network” problem. Thanks

  16. Patrick says

I can’t seem to find the “modem” file ,the “CSC” file and the . pit file when using odin to browse my stock firmware folder I have a galaxy note 2 in the “BMC” region.

I’ve got an N7100. Think my phone’s bricked. Started about a week ago, would freeze most of the time so i’d have to restart. Had this ROM at the time – GT-N7100_WanamLite.UBDMC1.V3.4.NO-WIPE. Figured maybe the issue is with the ROM so i flashed a Paranoid Android ROM on but it would still freeze and stuff. One day i answer a call and the thing freezes. I switch it off and on but its stuck on the “Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100″ bootup screen. Not sure what to do now…need help. Please.

I recently used a certain app on my note 2 which was cf root. And now anytime I want to check my updates it says system has been modified. What should I do bro

    • sohil memon says

The problem is because you have modified the system files. If you want to get update then unroot the device and install the Stock Firmware.

Hello fren, please please Help me,

I got GT N7100 model note II from my friend and i go through internet and search lots of article about rooting and unrooting. In my Set there is Superuser app and i can’t uninstall it also, I tried to update through Wifi but it says your system is latest version. While pressing volume down+Home+power button it doesn’t open download mode too. Now version is 4.1.1 but i want to update it to 4.1.2. Is superuser means my set is already rooted? if not then what to do. While installing titanium backup it says my phone is not rooted. Plz give me best suggestion

    • sohil memon says

Bro if you can give root user permission to any app then your phone is rooted, otherwise not. Go can go for any of the root apps. You can give me baseband version and region so that I can provide you android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.

    Hi,
I am in United Arab Emirates, I have done testing on various ROms for my Note 2 , now i want to go back to my stock rom, i have downloaded the firmware based on the country , but after i do that , i can see only Emergency calls and my IMEI number has got changed. How to solve this

    • sohil memon says

Means you have installed the wrong Stock ROM. I have said that first confirm the basedband version and region, finally go for ROM.

      • Ram Shankar says

        Hi
I have got it fixed from the service centre, they have told me that rooting causes a lot of issues , i have faced some issues in some custom rom , where i cannot hear or the other person cannot hear what i talk, is it do with baseband or what it could be. Secondly is rooting bad for the phone.
        Thanks
        Shankar
